First Year Still Lives.
During my first placement, students built their understanding of drawing, art elements and techniques through still life drawing. Students spent classes focusing on how they portray Line, Tone, Light, Texture, Composition and Symbolism. Their final work was a graphite drawing of a still life composition arranged by the students in groups.
Second Year Portraiture
Second year students explored the world of portraiture through acrylic paint. The students used a grid method and studied symbolism, colour and facial proportions. The group were encouraged to create symbolism within their work by including visuals which they felt represented themselves.
